You obviously didnt read my original instructions to him....
Process is

1. Make sure you have TWRP installed
2. Reboot to recovery
3. Factory reset
4. Wipe system
5. Flash Rom, GApps, Magisk
6. Reboot

Do it however you like, but I can tell you manually wiping data does cause issues. Ive seen and experienced it and I guarantee you Ive clean flashed more than anyone you know.

Correct, which is why I wrote the directions the way I did above. Wiping data manually can and does cause all sorts of weird issues.

If youre saying on initial boot it boots up fast and doesnt ask you to sign in then GApps arent being installed. Are you using a script for them? On initial boot do you see any Google apps installed? Can you sign in manually? Have you manually reformatted anything? Have you ever changed to F2FS? Try repairing the system partition in TWRP. Go to wipe/advanced/select system/choose repair.

I guess seek out help on XDA. Whatever you have going on something is very messed up. If you made it all the way back to a clean flash of 8.0 you should be able to just follow the exact steps I stated above.

Dont do anything else or wipe anything else.

My guess is its something to do with flashing stock at some point. I would back up your SD card on your PC and wipe everything. Reinstall TWRP and move everything back over. Then follow these steps. Something got very screw'd up somehow. GApps dont disappear on reboot.

Ok, Ill take one more attempt at explaining this and then Im done. The 11th build is an 8.0 build, NOT an 8.1 build. ONLY 8.0 GApps will work on that build. The builds in the folder I just linked again are 8.1 builds and there are also 8.1 GApps in there. YOU CANNOT MIX 8.0 builds and 8.1 GApps.

Either continue using the 11th build with 8.0 GApps or CLEAN FLASH the 8.1 build and 8.1 GApps.

Actually, I have no idea what build youre using. I have no 12/11 build. The oldest 8.1 build I have is 12/13 and the last 8.0 build is 12/6. If you want 8.1 just flash the newest build in the folder I linked. CLEAN FLASH ONLY.

Im having a very hard time understanding what youre saying. My 8.1 builds and GApps are in the folder I just linked and work perfectly. If youre having issues installing either it is something on your end.

Not sure what youre trying to say. The GApps pack in my folder install perfectly. I've clean flashed at least 20 times with them. I assume youre flashing the Rom in the test Drive folder linked here and NOT the build on AFH? Thats an 8.0 build and of course wont work with the modified 8.1 GApps.

NFC doesnt work on any 8.1 Shamu Rom Ive seen. Not sure what battery backup is, sorry. I dont use and cant test miracast.

Yes, it's on the bottom now. If I can figure out a way to make that selectable then you may be able to change it. If not, this is the new normal. I prefer it like this.

Im sure. I doubt Shamu will ever be 100% stable anymore. But find me a Rom where there are no issues and I'll look into it.

Fixed the ridiculous swipe to unlock issue where it takes multiple attempts. Apparently this is a "feature" on 8.1 to prevent false unlocks.

New test build in a bit. Updated to aosp master version of clang and added some other optimizations. Removed NFC and fixed unlocking issue. Build is very fast compared to last.
