der englisch-thread

hi members,
i have told you that the company which bought us,
is a danish company.
there are some people who can't speak german.
so I must lern engish, if i would or not.

and now i must whrite many mails in english and i must talk to danish poeple too,
and it would be interested fpr me, to talk an to whrite in english.

please help me, who talk englsh too, that i can leran more.

weil wir von einer danischen firma gekauft wurden und in diesem thread würde ich gerne ensglisch schreiben, mit euch, die eben der sprache mächtig sind.

i am working for an international company since 2 years and mostly all emails in our company are in english. And i think it is important for everyone to speak english because it is an language which most of the people understands. A week ago i was at the oktoberfest and there i met people from spain and from england and it was interesting to talk to them.

did you ever need to talk in english in your freetime or will you only speak english in your company?

There are some authors I only read in english and I mostly watch movies in this language.

some books and movies are really better in english because some jokes you can't translate into another language!

For example: Matrix 2: Agent Smith: This is a dead end!
There is no possibility to translate more than the "Sackgasse", while in the english version you although can hear that Smith wants to kill Neo...

i dont't talk english in my freetime.
only in the company when i have contacdt with my danish colleagues.
but i have some problems with missing word.
i want say something and the i've forgotten the word.
but the colleagues understand a little bit of german, so we can take german words too. :lol:

My Problem is that I can understand almost everything but if I have to say something...

i think the englsh of our colleagues aren not better than our english,
therefore they understand us an we understand them.

yesterday my "friend" johnny, a production engineer, had a question and i answered him in german, but he didn't understand what i mean,
so i tryied it in english.
in my very awfully english, but suddenly he understand what i mean. :applaus:

thaugh I think they all understand more german than what we can understand when they talk danish

Since a long time i didn´t talk or wrote in English. The last time witch I renember,was in the Hotel where i was make my training to become a waitress.
There was one american couple living in the Hotel for a few days. The women got´s sick and she order roomservice.
I brought her some tee and sandwiches. She told me that she hope to feel better tomorow and i answerd :" Perhaps!" She started to laughing but since this day she wanted just me for sevice. It was realy nice for me. She give me almost good tip. :ye:

@neri, today i heard bjare speaking with another dane, and some word i did understand.
it's like netherland, some words wou understand.

@biene54 that's still pretty from the woman to order you.

i think we have the problem, that we misprize us.
we must simply try to talk, hthey will understand us.

i take help from leo, when i miss a word, so i'm lookking there for it. my colleagues in denmark are looking in leo too. :daum:

An English-Thread? Thats nice, i have to speak a lot in english in my team because we have a couple icehockey-players from sweden, one from finland and two from the states. two or three of them try to learn al bit german, but its easier for me to talk with them in english because my english ist much better than their german :lach:
So if you wanna know something in english about icehockey, just ask me
By the way, its not as easy to write in english then in german :pfei:

in the company, i use outlook for sending mails.
and there i have a program für spelling, which i use often :flue:

Dont worry, things like this happen to me every day a couple times and in the last two or three weeks it also happens that i cant remember words in german and english. Worst case i can tell you.....

oh my god, i try to write in english too but my english which i have learned in school is not very good :ign:

yeah mixe, those mistakes happened all the time, but that's not so bad.
but for all they understand.

Its not bad, thats true, it is very worst :lach:
But anyway, all the guys in my team (and in other teams too) understand me, including the players and guys from canada, usa and england, so my english cant be so bad or ugly.
When i finished my school about 17 years ago, i never used the english language since this moment and it was not so easy to start with it then, but it came back very fast and if you "must" speak it every day you´ll learn it very fast again. Much faster then in school i think

that´s one of the best ideas i heard last month !

I spoke english many times in past because my sister worked in a international bibelschool and so i used each visit to practise my bad english - and it became better.

But in the last few years there was nobody i could speak english with and so it became bader and bader. Now here is the chance to wake up death language-pieces in my mind.

I know, grammatics are not my lover. But I think everybody will understand me and -maybe - the time will come when i check it how to use the gramatics correct.

And one egnlish joke to the end: There was a german pilot, whos plane crashed down in england. He went to a english-man and asked him: Sorry, Do you have a bröckele Schnur im Sack? And the english-man answerd: Oh yes, an ganzen Bobbel. But if you are gehing on my nerves, I will kick you in the gulli and make the deckel druff. Than you never see the tageslicht again. Good tschüss again.

I have to edit my writeing because there are one thing I remembered while reading the other talks again. Try to think english and don´t try to think in german and translate it after to spell it. It´s easier to talk in english if you try to think in english. At the beginning it´s not really easy but it´s funny. And if there is missimg a word, don´t search a german word you can translate. Try to describe it with other words in english. that´s my way to write here. and i feel its easier for me in that way.

Thats true husky. Its always better to think in english while you speak or write in english. In my eyes its the best and fastest way to re-learn a language.
By the way, the past of the word "bad" ist not "bader" or "badest", its bad-->worst-->worst.
But dont worry, I made the same mistake when I re-start my english :zwin:
