Depending on the Gapps you choose you may not have HDR+ or you may have GPS persistently in your status bar. Both of these are not ROM bugs but are gapps bugs. I am currently one these and haven't had any problems yet sparksco

After many hours of trying to determine what was causing the GPS bug it appeared that it was possibly one of the proprietary apks from CM. They had 4.4.4 apks still. I decided for this build to remove those proprietary apks out and only use 1 of 6 that was provided by Googlejorgen2009even though factory images have all 6 still. Don't worry though, I packaged all 6 of these apks straight from the latest Stock Image for you to flash[DLMURL]https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/devs?dev=Cl3Kener&dl=Cl3Kener/HAMMERHEAD/MODs/Restore-Proprietary-APKs.zip[/DLMURL] if you experience weird issues or if it makes you feel better to have them all. (Although SimpleAOSP only uses the 1 provided by Google too) I also plan on updating everything as soon as official 5.0.1 proprietary files are released. So far things are working fine with the 5.0 blobs but I certainly hope we'll see some updates in the 5.0.1.

At first when playing with the gps bug it seemed the icon didn't go away. It wasn't until I wiped data on a bunch of Google apps like Google Search, Google Play Services and some other Google things for good measure did my gps icon finally disappear. You'll probably have to play around with that after dirty flash or just do a clean flash again whatever you think is in your best interested.

My GPS bug has disappeared since that last build. I see the icon appear and then it goes away later when not being used (as it should). Some of you still are saying you are having it but as far as I can see it's gone.

I've decided to build 4 builds today: [COLOR=#ff0000]1 Stock White Deodex, 1 Stock White Odex, 1 Material Dark Deodex, and 1 Material Dark Odex.[/COLOR] I'm not sure I want to continue doing 4 every time since it takes several hours to build them all but I figured today we'd give everyone choices.

Today's builds are the fastest yet due to the removal of debugging and some animation speed tweaking. I'm noticing many people are struggling with installing the ROM. I suggest that you follow these instructions including the removal /sdcard/Android/ if you are experiencing system app crashes.

MultiROM is always temperamental and you must follow these instructions verbatim:https://plus.google.com/104384867235...ts/jgGGnRsuQiy and even then you may still have conflicts in sdcard/Android/ You'll find that MultiROM may have separate system partitions but they all share the same sdcard and the data stored in sdcard/Android can conflict from ROM to ROM.

Here is a tutorial I made on how to switch to F2FS although it is optional:https://plus.google.com/104384867235...ts/7No16fUQaFz You can flash this on EXT4 just fine. The Default kernel is permissive F2FS/EXT4 combo so if you want additional security please flash one of the enforcing options.

Some people are complaining about some "misc" settings battery drain. I haven't seen this in my battery stats but if I do I'll try to locate the problem. If you think you've discovered what is causing the "misc" battery drain feel free to share your thoughts here.

Today's builds are the fastest yet due to my ppa updates to use Ubuntu 15.04 (prealpha) GCC toolchains/components. My testers said the noticed yet another performance boost.

I was recently asked to join the Team over at SimpleAOSP and so you'll notice this folder has appeared.[DLMURL]https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/Cl3Ke...EAD/SIMPLEAOSP[/DLMURL]. I've already added many of my favorite optimization/speed tweaks to that ROM and it does have roughly the same features as OptiPop does as of right now. I'm strongly considering either 1) discontinuing the white builds so I can focus on making everything dark (not just settings power menu) or 2) just discontinuing this entire project and maybe making my own dark unofficial simpleaosp builds. I might also just keep building all 4 optipop builds but maybe not quite so frequently and mainly with the idea of testing new features/optimization (and of course to make sure this F2FS-all ROM lives on...since that is one thing that hasn't been added to SimpleAOSP.... yet)

In all seriousness though, it just doesn't make sense for me to spend all of this time on a solo project when there are many talent individuals working on SimpleAOSP which seems to already have almost all of the features I use/like anyways -- especially when they are chill enough they'll even let me add a feature two that I feel is missing. I'd spend much less time doing the stuff I'm not so good at (cough java cough) and more time looking into ways to boost performance, battery, or optimize the ROM in any way possible. Anyways, I recommend you at least look into SimpleAOSP and maybe give that ROM above a flash to see if you think it is comparable enough to OptiPop or if you're going to cry yourself to sleep at night if were to discontinue the project. (Again the above link has many of my optimizations which have been officially merged into SimpleAOSP already)

By Request I've added a 3rd upload host (goo.im) to ensure that you can get yourselves a copy of OptiPop. Just thought I'd make mention of that in case you didn't notice. I know goo.im has had a bad rep in the past but they've changed things a lot and download speeds seemed decent when I tested.

I also want to remind everyone that dark build is still a wip. Eventually I want to get everything dark including all system apps etc. Right now it is only Settings and Power Menu. I'm going to try do more over the coming Holidays.

Well I've officially merged android-5.0.2_r1 into all OptiPop repos. We are not running the latest Google Nightly!!! Not a whole lot of changes but it seems we did get some more bugfixes so it was worth the rebuild.

Other than that I only merged a few tiny bug fixes I've seen other ROMs merging and haven't added any new features.

I decided to do all 4 builds so you can all enjoy 5.0.2.

He's brought some new ideas and speed tweaks I am not familiar with to the build from vanir so these are most definately the fastest builds yet!!! He'll be maintaining N6 OptiPop here once it gets all of the wrinkles ironed out so if you have an N6 or are planning on having an N6 keep an eye out for him and the future OptiPop N6 OP that should be appearing sometime in the new future!

So it appears we've been having issues with Odex versions of this ROM. After much testing it appears that either odexing is not working properly with the new features or the additional speed tweaks added in the last build are not compatible with odexing. Either way, I've had several people message me that they feel Odex was feeling more sluggish in the UI than deodex builds. I originally told them it was most likely a placebo but after hearing enough people say odex builds are slower did a comparison myself. Low and behold Odex build were slower. No kidding! It literally felt as if the ROM had gained weight and the UI just felt heavier to me. So for today, I only built Deodex builds to avoid all of the problem we're are having with Odex builds. (Note: If you wish to build your own Odex version of this ROM sync the sources and make sure to select user instead of userdebug for the build.)

I also have amended the installation instructions. I am now recommending that you setup everything before flashing custom kernels. Flash ROM/Gapps then Boot up and setup. After you've made it through the setup menu then you can play with other MODs, Superuser, Kernels etc. I think the success rate will go up with this method of installing OptiPop.

Unfortunately Basketbuild is down again. I've contacted AndroidFileHost and hopefully they'll be able to provider a better mirror for us in the future. For now though I hope one of the mirrors below will work.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Just thought I'd kick off the year right by bringing back all of the GCC flags I used to use in Kitkat. It wasn't easy due to Google introducing clang which doesn't support many of the GCC flags but is supposed to compile code 2-3 times faster than GCC. Personally I would rather have the optimization than have a faster compile but whatever Google is boss. Anyhow, using a modular implementation I managed to use these optimizations on the ~90% of the ROM not built by clang and you'll really notice these new optimizations when opening apps. These builds are by far the fastest yet and my testers have been loving these latest builds!

I also made sure to use the latest neon-vfpv4 implementation and tune build for Krait (which uses cortex-a15). These are also things I had to provide work arounds for but after many hours of playing with things I managed to get everything happy and together again. I'm sure you'll love it!

I noticed there were some weird Internet related glitches in web browsers and stuff. I think this was because I forgot to wipe ccache before building which must have messed some of the web related things up. Today I made both builds completely clean and no glitches have been reported by my dedicated testers so I think we can safely say those web related issues should be gone now in 2015!!!

I would post a picture on here but I don't want to get flagged for posting inappropriate content. (I kid you not, I've had friends get in trouble for linking pictures with spouses/girlfriends on here)

Anyhow, while I was waiting for delivery I managed to squeeze out two builds with fixed libwebviewchromium libs. I had apparently over optimized them (and yes there is such a thing) so that they were 2X larger than they should have been and were having trouble loading for some of you. I've moved to just using prebuilt versions of those libs to ensure no more issues there. If you happen to find other libs that are causing FCs in your logcats let me know and I can fix those as well.

I've now swapped out goo.im for the ever popular Android File Host. I hear good things about this server so hopefully it will make acquiring builds easier for some of you that have struggled in the past
