[KERNEL][N9] franco.Kernel - r1 (beta/preview)

Nun hat das N9 auch ein Franco.Kernel... zwar noch eine Beta und noch ohne original Thread aber das kommt noch alles.

Kernel erstmal nur als boot.img Datei verfügbar!

Alright I decided to take the plunge and work a little bit on the Nexus 9.
Couple important things before you flash it:

- FKUpdater does not "officially" supports this device (at least not yet) because I wasn't planning on working for it
- I reserve the right for not providing regular updates because I don't have time, I said from the beginning that I wouldn't work on it and because I don't have a big emotional attachment to tablets in general. That said, be assured that I will make FKUpdater compatible with it in the future.
Also this release is mainly aimed for:

- Improving general tablet performance (no more 2 second delay after opening an app which happened sometimes before)
- Improving performance for encrypted devices (both read and write IO)
- Improving battery life by using more intelligent cpu boost on touch events
- Using Conservative as the default governor for improved cpu frequencies usage homogenization and fast ramp up, fast ramp down
- Improved lowmemorykiller driver to reduce random app killing by Android and therefore reduce/remove re-draws
- An as always a lean build without most of the usual debug crap that vendors never disable

I'm very interested in real world testing of this Kernel against stock Kernel (I don't really care if it benches higher or lower than stock), battery life and heat level close to the camera lens.

I'll open up a thread on XDA sometime today.

I'll be brutally honest. Battery life on the Nexus 9 with franco.Kernel totally rocks. Screenshots below are a proof that this device is more than capable of achieving great length of usage. Of course battery life is always subjective of your own usage, but I think we can pretty much establish that stock Kernel configuration when dealing with CPUfreqs is plain weird and overly aggressive.
That said, my usage for this amazing battery performance is the following:

1 - brightness at 40% with auto-brightness disabled
2 - Wi-Fi always enabled and kickin' with ADB Wireless
3 - it's the device that I'm using to test my new app, so the periods that you see of screen on it's me testing the app (some parts are computational heavy so the CPU ain't sippin' margaritas on the beach)
4 - I'm NOT capping CPU max freq, plain stock value

I'm not playing games, just plain regular usage, a few youtubes and other websites on the way too.

Now don't tell me that the Nexus 9 can't perform on this front.

Let's tag +David Ruddock since he wrote the review for+Android Police. I know this is with a non-stock Kernel, but still.
